Who is Physiological testing for?

People think physiological testing is just for elite athletes, but this is simply not true.
Physiological testing is vital for those with who wish to improve their function, quality of life
and longevity.

Physiological testing provides you with vital information specific to how your cardiovascular,
metabolic and respiratory systems are currently performing which is essential to prescribing
the correct nutrition and exercise programming that will lead to you being healthier with a
higher quality of life and improved longevity

Longevity includes three concepts:

01

extending individual’s lifespan

02

expanding the health of an individual

(health span = living longer free of diseases)

03

controlling and reversing the hallmarks of aging

Tests Vital to your Health

VO2max

One of the tests you should have completed is referred to as a VO2max test. VO2max measures how efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise and is one of the strongest indicators of longevity. A higher VO2 max is associated with better heart health, improved endurance, and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. A multitude of studies show that physical activity contributes to greater longevity, due to the many positive effects it has on the body. These effects include stronger heart and lung function, improved health of blood vessels, stronger muscles, better balance, and a healthier weight. There are three Pillars of Longevity: Nutrition, Exercise, and Recovery. Ensuring long-term health requires a combination of proper nutrition, regular exercise, and a dedicated recovery program.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

Another important test is a resting metabolic rate (RMR) test. It is the gold standard test for determining how many calories you burn at rest and during low level activities. It also provides the percentage of fat versus carbohydrate you burn at rest, which is the best method for assessing the health of your metabolic systems. If you wish to lose weight, lose fat or increase your metabolic rate, thereby burning more calories at rest, a RMR test is vital to your success.

Spirometry test

Spirometry is another test completed with my clients – it measures your lung capacity (the maximum amount of air you can breathe as well as the maximum amount of air you can expire forcefully which is vital to exercise. This information is vital to those with respiratory limitations as we can determine if your capacity is limited, as well as use these metrics to see how well you can breathe during exercise by evaluating your breathing during your VO2 test.
